Christina A. Clayton, Ed. D., Director of Virtual Learning

Christina Clayton, Ed. D.Christina has 12 years of combined educational experience at the district, post-secondary, and state agency levels. She began her career as a high school English teacher serving in Florida, Gwinnett County and Cherokee County. At the district level, to include her classroom experience, she also served as a mentor teacher and curriculum coach. In 2006, she accepted a position with the Kennesaw State University Educational Technology Center as an Instructional Technology Specialist and provided technology planning support, instructional technology support, and professional development to eleven counties in the metro Atlanta area and Kennesaw State Bagwell College of Education. Christina accepted a position with the Georgia Department of Education in the Technology Services Division, specifically working with GeorgiaStandards.Org and the Georgia Virtual School.

Recently, she has served as the Interim Principal of the Georgia Virtual School and now as the Director of Virtual Learning. Her goals are to provide a focused instructional program for students across the state and to continue to lay the foundation for building a robust e-Learning presence for students and educators. Christina holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Masters in Instructional Technology. She also holds Georgia certification in Educational Leadership. She serves on the GaETC (Georgia Educational Technology Conference) steering committee.  Areas of expertise and research include virtual learning, innovative instructional practices, online professional learning, blended learning, and data management to increase student achievement.
