By participating in the Credit Recovery program, you are taking an important step in getting back on track for your high school graduation. Please find a few suggestions below to make your participation in the program a positive and rewarding experience.
- To participate in this program, you must have previously received a failing grade on your transcript. If this is not your situation, please talk to your Credit Recovery (CR) Monitor about transferring your enrollment to the GA Virtual School Program.
- In the Credit Recovery program, there is no teacher leading the class or grading your work. Therefore, you need to be motivated and set yourself a schedule. Be sure to talk to your CR monitor about any deadlines your school may have for completion.
- At the beginning of each course module, there is a pre-test. You will need to take the pre-test to help the system assess your level of content knowledge for that module.
- Depending upon your pre-test score, you may be directed to complete the content items for the module; or you may demonstrate enough knowledge that you are directed on to the post-test.
- The unit post-tests are what make up your grade in the course. You MUST take the post-test for each unit. To move onto the next unit, you must achieve a score of 70% or better.
- If you attempt the post-test three times and do not make the required score, you will need to ask your CR Monitor to reset it for you. Make sure you know your CR Monitor's availability so that you can be sure he/she will be able to reset the tests for you if necessary. All pre-tests, post-tests and final exams must be proctored by your CR Monitor at your school.
- At the end of the course, you will be required to take either a final exam or the End of Course Test. This assessment will count 15% of your grade and will be averaged in with your other test scores.
- After you successfully complete your Credit Recovery course, a new grade will be put on your transcript. It will not will replace your old grade but it will be in addition to it and show that you have met this requirement for graduation.
Remember, if you ever have any questions about your Credit Recovery course, see your local school CR Monitor for assistance.
