What is the GADOE Credit Recovery Program?

The GA DOE Credit Recovery Program is a collaborative initiative between the Division of School Improvement and the GA Virtual School.  It is an opportunity for a student to retake a course that he/she previously was not academically successful in earning credit towards graduation.

  • Credit Recovery courses are designed to be on a flexibile schedule and are not facilitated by a teacher.  If you are looking for a teacher led course on a semester schedule, please go to GA Virtual School for more information.
  • Credit Recovery options allow students who have completed seat time and calendar requirements to earn credit based on competency of the content standards.
  • Credit Recovery courses are complete courses containing all GPS content for which the student will demonstrate mastery before receiving a new grade.
  • The Credit Recovery program offers core courses required for graduation from a  Georgia public high school.
  • The program is only available to students enrolled in Georgia public high schools.
  • While the program is provided free to participating Georgia public high schools, the local school may incur a fee in offering the program, which will in turn be passed on to students.
