Home Schools

Georgia Virtual School, an initiative of the Department of Education, provides opportunities and options for Georgia students to engage in Advanced Placement, college preparatory, career and technical, and other electives online to enhance their learning experiences.

During fall and spring semesters, registered home school students may take up to one unit or two half units of Ga. Virtual high school-level courses using state funding. (One unit in the fall and one unit in the spring.) State funded seats are limited, and enrollment is granted on a first come, first served basis beginning May 1. Home school students can enroll in additional classes at a cost of $300 per half unit. There is no state funding available for summer courses for any students. The cost is $300 per half unit.

How to Register as a Home School Student with GAVS

Step 1 - Click on the Registration link located at the top of the screen and create an account for which you will be assigned a username and GTID (Georgia Testing ID). Please note: It will take up to 72 hours to receive your GTID. You will be notified via email when your GTID has been assigned.

Step 2 - After receiving notification that your GTID has been assigned, log in to the GAVS website and apply for the course(s) you wish to take using state funding, if available.
