Private Schools
The Georgia Virtual School, an education initiative of the Georgia Department of Education, provides opportunities and options for Georgia students to engage in Advanced Placement, College Preparatory, Career and Technical, and other electives online to enhance their learning experiences.

Students can take classes using state funding provided it is a part of their regularly scheduled school day. However, state funded seats are limited, and enrollment is done on a first come, first served basis.

Students can also enroll in supplemental classes, in addition to their school day schedule during fall, spring, and summer semesters.

 Facilitator Responsibilities

Every School has a local facilitator. Some schools choose to have an approver and then assign other people to act as monitors for the students. In addition to getting the students approved and into their courses, facilitators have the following responsibilities:

To assist facilitators with these responsibilities, there is a facilitator resource center that all facilitators are enrolled in. In addition, completion of activities in the facilitator resource center meets the required hours for one PLU.

 Support

GA Virtual School has a support team in place to answer your questions and support schools and students. Use the contact information below to reach the appropriate team member.

 Requirements for Participation

To participate in GA Virtual School, schools must agree to the requirements for participation.

In addition, the school must agree to accept and transcribe the students' grades at the end of the semester. GA Virtual School does not grant credit.

 State Testing

Private School students who enroll in one of the 10 state mandated End of Course Test courses must take the appropriate EOCT in place of the final exam. Arrangements will be made for students to take these at the local Educational Technology Centers (ETCs). GAVS will make all of the arrangements and communicate this to the local school and the student.
